English Teacher
I worked as an English teacher at a small, private school for extracurricular learning in Dalian, China. I tutored students one-on-one, and tailored the difficulty level and subject matter of each lesson to the ability of the student. Some were very young; I taught them simple vocabulary and pronunciation, played games, etc. Some were high school or college students; I taught them advanced reading comprehension, grammar, and pronunciation. I also tutored SSAT, SAT, and TOEFL, and helped many students with their essay writing and editing skills. Over the course of three months I taught more than 500 hours. During this time I lived with a Chinese home-stay family, learning the language and culture.
