Samuel Ashmead Dyer, my namesake, was the husband of my grandmother Ruth Reynolds ("Jeep"). He went to Yale University, and played Varsity football there. They were married 29 June 1914, in Luzerne, Pennsylvania. My mother was born two years later, one year before Sam died of tuberculosis.
