Tom Tisch is a retired venture capitalist and private investor with a background in technology startups and public companies, particularly in communications, networking, computing, and software applications. He played a significant role in the early funding of several notable companies, including Software Publishing Corporation (SPC), where I first met him.
Software Publishing Corporation was established in 1980 in Mountain View, California, by former Hewlett-Packard employees Fred Gibbons, Janelle Bedke, and John Page. SPC gained recognition for its “pfs:” series of business software products and the pioneering Harvard Graphics presentation program.
In 1981, Tom Tisch joined SPC’s Board of Directors, contributing his expertise during the company’s formative years.
Tom and I have kept in contact over the years, with emails and occasional meals both in Silicon Valley and more recently in Los Gatos.
