Imagine writing, imagine getting a letter like that. So, life went on and there were two years in between and then I was introduced to John, and I took him down to meet them before we were married. They were most darling to him. They’re both dead now. All that time, now all that time up until I wonder what the date was – I had deep resentments in me, so deep that – for one thing I always felt that I deserved an apology. Somehow, somebody ought to come and say, “I’m sorry. “ it was as though it were all my fault. You know, – he turned into a really, really hateful person toward me.
We didn’t see each other, except at the club. He just looked through me like I was a glass wall, and then, via letters, and I have some of them still. I should tear them up, but I may send them to him. When Herb and Nancy - Herb was still fine – we all went down to Esalen. I didn’t know what Esalen was and I didn’t know what an encounter group was. Nancy and Herb went, and Jim Paulson and Margo went, and another couple here who was a psychiatrist – did you know John Moore, and his wife, well he was with a younger man and his wife played golf with us. There were four couples. And Jim said, “look. Anyone who wants to go in an encounter group, I’ll arrange it. “And I said, “well, that sounds like fun. “ so Nancy went in one, and I went in, we all went in different ones. The mowers went in a couples one. I did not know anyone in the encounter group, and I was so eager to participate and see what happened (laughs). You know what they are and we had about 20 people, I had that marvelous man not Fritz Pearls, Binshu, was that it? Binshu, I think that’s who it was.
