It was an incredible thing. We kept it when I got married, I kept it on, And John kept saying to me, “do you have any proof that you own those machines. “And I said, “well, yes, I have my canceled checks. “ And he said, “no, have you got any proof of ownership?” And I said, “well just that. “And he said, “that guy can walk in those filling stations and take those machines and go off sometime and you’ll have nothing to go on. “And I said, “oh dear, that’s awful. “He said, “I really think this isn’t a very good idea. “ we were taking a little money, you know, it was fun, and the kids liked it.
Oh, it sounds like they would.
So, one day I was home, no, I was at the place at one of the filling stations, and the owner came over across the street, and said, “do you have any more of these machines? “And I said, “well, I can get them. “ And he said, “would like to put one in my place, I need one. “So, I said fine. So I called the owner in the city in this place and I had them install another machine. And about three days, a man rang my doorbell, and said, “are you the peninsula vending service? “ That was my name. And I said, “yes, I am. “He said, “have you put a machine in the Belmont bus station? “And I said, “yes. They asked me for one. “He said, “that’s my territory“he said, “you do a thing like that again and I’ll rough you up. I’m so I said, “oh my God, the gangsters (laughs). “ so I told Jon about it that night, and he said, “sell the business. let’s get out of this thing. “So we put an ad in the paper, and two unsuspecting women came down and talked about it, and they bought it from me, and I gave them a bill of sale. I don’t know what happened to them. (Both laugh)
You think they got roughed up?
