They went to party after party after party, they didn’t do anything really really important. I think she was a member of the junior league there or something and went down two mornings a week and worked in the babies department, I don’t know what she did to justify her existence. But otherwise it was really pleasure. They went fox hunting, and they had attractive friends, And there was no really deep conversation. My father took the Saturday evening post, that was the magazine. My mother gave me piano lessons, and she did send me to a good school. So my education as a high school student was super. One of the best schools in the country. The only reason I went there was because of her. But there were no books around, and no good music around.
I had to get that from other places, and what little I got, and so now I say that I had to make up a lot of last time when I married John. He has really done a lot for me. He’s encouraged me to read much more than I ever did before. Of course what he did for the children in the way of guidance and the education they could not have had a lucky or break. Music was brought into the house, full blast, they were all music going, and I liked music music, I danced, I forgot to tell you about that I was sort of a frustrated, ballet dancer, I was too big and too awkward, but I did dance a lot. That was one thing that we all did, that we dances all the time, and I loved dancing, and I love to watch it, and neither of my husbands could dance. Which is sort of sad. Well it’s all right. John was into playing the piano so he never really danced. The children got introduced to music in a very special way, and also got introduced to reading. Encouraged them in a very special way, he took each one separately, I’ll never forget this, and I thought it was a great idea he said, “now, this week, every month, each child got five dollars to spend on books, paperback or something. “
