And he was the same age as my brother, and of course they just… So to have your only son wiped out…

Your mom’s family, did they have any sort of dash they were easterners, as you said, they were both from the east.

That’s right.

They had a family tree, and they were promoted, and my mother cared about that, you know, she went to Farmington and she knew a lot of nice people.

But you don’t know any sort of ethnicity, like whether they were from Germany or England?

No, they weren’t from Germany, I’m sure. They were from England, I think.

But that was nothing that they sort of talked about very much.

My mother would start to talk about it and I’d say I wasn’t interested. Isn’t that terrible? I suppose I should find out someday. I don’t know why that doesn’t interest me. I suppose it should.

No, just, I guess it wasn’t a big issue, particularly.

No, it was her.  She would say, you know, your ancestors come from good stock, she used to tell me, and I’d say, “well, that’s just neat, ho,ho”.

But it never meant much.
