The judge said, “I have no interest in your sex life,” and he said, “wait a minute, Mr. Edwards, I think “ and I’m sitting there grinning and my lawyer is saying, keep a straight face, don’t grin. “The judge said “ oh, I’m sure you have a nice house, I’m sure the furniture is beautiful and expensive and I’m sure you’re refrigerator is full “, but he said, “that’s no place for your children. “And he denied and with that, Clyda burst into tears and turned around and shook her fist at Mr. Edwards face and said, “you ought to be ashamed of yourself “ to him. I was still scared of her, because she thought I would get out of town, but I was determined to. I did not go back and visit in Kentucky, and it would’ve been nice, there were lots of men around, and all of a sudden I felt the need to be looked at and have parties, it was just marvelous, seeing friends. But I realized in three days I could never move back there now. It was all out here. So, Dan’s family bought me a house which I paid them when I got my money we moved to Menlo Park.

So Don’s family was on your side.

Totally. They didn’t speak to him for a while. He not only abandoned me, but he abandoned his kids, too, he wasn’t allowed to see them with her, he refused to see them at all. Which made me feel you know that was rough. I still shake talking about that. I still have not gotten over the resentment that I have built up .
