I’ve had a drink and was acting sort of like a high school girl. And I thought, well, he’s finished off, he’ll never come back, but he did call back.
What was interesting about him, do you think, what was so attractive?
He was. I can’t really put my finger on what it was. I think mainly the first part was that there was a tremendous physical attraction, it was just overpowering, and I guess I’d had physical attractions for people, but was just something, and you know , where I live, we did not do anything about it. I keep thinking about today’s young people and myself today, and there wouldn’t have been any question about it, I would’ve gone to bed with him immediately. But I didn’t. It was very hard to seduce him. He didn’t push it either, he was very clever. Anyway, we didn’t get married without trying it out before, because I thought that was stupid. So we did, a couple of times (laughs) and that was what cinched it for me, so we got married, six weeks after we met.
How long was this after the break up?
Two years. Exactly 2 years. And he had been married and divorced, so, I think he’s been divorced about a year, and nothing marriage from what I gather. He’s been married five years a girl, there was just nothing at all, that’s what he tells me, I don’t know. But it was the first year of the marriage with John Merriman, was horrible. In many ways, I was so scared of him. He must not have been totally secure, so when we went to a party here at Stanford, he would go to parties, school was very small, then, and the parties were small, he played . He would play, and everybody would dance and carry on. One night we came home from the party and I had been dancing with John McDonough, quite a bit, because his wife doesn’t dance, and that was all part of my thing, I love to dance with people.
