for the companionship thing or more for your own sake?
For the companionship thing, I didn’t want to sit home, and I didn’t want to be a golf widow, there were certain tournaments that you could play in with your husband, so I opted to do that, so I really tried. I never became a great golfer or anything, but I was good enough to play. And so the sports thing was always competitive, and I liked that, I liked it that way. Maybe that’s because I would prefer to play when there were men playing, and there are a group of women golfers around here who plays as though they are men, and the style of men, and other words they give putts and they aren’t fussy about things and they like to gamble And they put money down and people think that’s sort of,, a lot of my friends say, “oh, how can you play and enjoy that sort of thing. “I do, that’s all, that’s the way it is, and this Dory luncheon group, it’s really, I like all the girls very much, but I don’t like the luncheons very much because they try to keep all types of conversations dealing with politics and stuff, and nobody wants to have, it’s Josie Hilgard sort of run it, and she likes it to be very pleasant and not to get in any kind of political discussion.
I’m surprised
Just social, and when we play bridge, it’s all fun and giggles, and I think it’s so stupid and nobody plays very well, except Winnie McIntyre, she’s the only one that plays very well, and she and I agree on this. Sheila plays pretty well. When he feels the same way I do and for a long time when I was, this was after I married John, he liked to play bridge, and we used to play tournament bridge, we go down and play in the tournaments. And John was busy at night Winnie and I would go out and play tournaments.
