Well, I don’t know exactly what incident brought on sending me to the convent, I think it was just a series of maybe conflicts with my stepfather, and maybe the fact that… I was at an age where they weren’t coping with me. I don’t really know much specific thing, but my mother thought that that would be a very good place for me to go for a year.
How old were you again?
I was 12
How old are you when you went to Nantucket then, can you remember?
I must’ve been 13 or 14
So this was after…
Yes, I was still, yes. But the convent, you know, I guess now that I look back, almost anything you do to me, or anything or place I go, I could cope pretty well with it, and so the convent, although it was – I don’t know that she meant it as a punishment, she wouldn’t have sent me someplace to punish me, but it wasn’t really a pleasant place to send a child in summary respects, and yet it turned out that I liked it, you know, it wasn’t terrible.
Afterwards.
Yes.
How did you feel about it when you heard about it, do you remember?
About the convent?
How did they presented to you?
Nothing, they just told me I was going. And it was just over in Cincinnati, so I was two hours from home, although I didn’t come home except for Christmas. I had family in Cincinnati that had me out for weekends.
