That’s very interesting, actually.
Health food?
Yes, sort of, you know.
Might as well turn it off, I can’t think of anything.
Well, when I was single, and sort of looking for dates. After I was divorced from Don.
Now, what year was that?
1951. I was divorced, I think, yes, and then I was married in 1953, but the divorce was final in 1951, so there was a year before it was final. I had a friend – I can’t remember her name, but she was a movie actress at one time, and she had a program at the veterans administration called dance therapy. And she asked me if I would like to be part of it, and what it involved was one morning a week – no, too Morning, we went over for I think an hour, an hour and a half, and worked with catatonic patients. It was one on one, and usually you tried to find the same man, and they were all men. The process was to come in and be outgoing, “hello, good morning, Pete, how are you, it’s so nice to see you again “. And Pete would stand there and maybe not move whatsoever, and then you all join hands in a circle and they played a record, you put your right foot in, you put your right foot out, swing, and all that. You got your guy to do this with you, you sort of clap, your hands, and every now and then one of them would almost shine, you know, he’s doing his thing. I saw so little change in him from week to week, but finally one day when I did go in there, one of the guys smiled at me and said, “oh, hi Nancy“, he knew my name, because I always said, “I’m Nancy. Don’t forget me now. I’ll see you Wednesday."
