During my almost three month visit to Colombia in 2019-2020, I hiked with Daniel and Nati to the Sacred Lake on Mt. Iguaque (9186 ft. The actual summit is another 2,789 ft.) The three of us walked along the difficult path of Iguaque to the paramo of the Iguaque Flora and Fauna Sanctuary. Here's the park official telling us we're crazy for even thinking about trying, and pointing out how far he thought we would go.
Boy, we’ll show you! Here's Daniel, charging ahead (he said this was his first real hike, do you believe).
Lots of beautiful flowers and epiphytes along the way:
Here is Daniel, trying to figure out the best way to climb the steep trail.
Looks like he made it.
And finally, the Sacred Lake, at 3800 meters.
We thought we were pretty amazing.
Until we noticed that a puppy had followed us the entire way.
No matter. It was a great hike.
