I climbed Mt. Shasta with a friend around 1964 (he got altitude sickness). We passed by the hot sulphur springs where in 1877 John Muir survived an overnight blizzard by lying in the springs near the summit.
On our return we hitched a ride on the sole ski lift (as of 2013, there are 4 aerial lifts and 2 surface lifts). As we rode down, a skier riding up mocked us as he passed: "Taking the easy way down, I see." We were too exhausted to respond.
