We sailed back across the Hudson Strait to Kinngait:
On neighboring Mallik Island we saw some Thule winter houses (1000 - 1600 A.D.) The houses were semi-subterranean, originally with frames of whalebones, driftwood, and stones, and covered with turf, sod, or skins:
They had tunnel-like entrances to reduce the heat loss:
Nearby were some kayak stands, used to protect the boats from being disturbed by dogs and other animals and allowing them to dry out. They were used about 80 to 100 years ago:
