Newspaper on the day of my birth
My Birth Certificate
My first home was in an apartment on the curvy part of Lombard Street in San Francisco. Len and I lived there while our father was away at the war.
Looking dapper on the streets of San Francisco.
My mother told me that while we were riding a cable car, I noticed a sailor sitting across from us. In a loud voice I said "You look like a nice man. Would you like to come home and sleep with my mother and me?" She said she was really embarrassed, but no more so than the sailor. And all the other cable car passengers loved it.

Ford Country Day School, Los Altos, Kindergarten and First Grade, 1948-1949
One of the most embarrassing moments in my young life occurred at Ford Country Day School. I was taking a pee in the boys' bathroom, and began to talk to the boy next to me, who was also taking a pee. I believe I expressed some interest in how his pee was coming along. At that moment Mrs. Ford looked in, saw me discussing peeing with this boy, and figured this was not good. She picked me up and carried me to the stage in front of the main classroom. Addressing me in front the assembled students, she said something like "Well Mr. Edwards. Since you were so interested in that boy's pee, why don't you share that interest with the rest of the school?" And with that introduction, she proceeded to drop my pants in front of the entire school, for all to see.

My first passion was model trains. I assembled the cars, laid the tracks, and wired the control panel for my pride and joy, my H.O. train.
