Mexico City
I first visited Mexico in 1959 when our family went to Mexico City for Christmas. It was the first time I had been outside the United States, and I was blown away. We went to the National Museum, saw the Ballet Folklorico de Mexico, and visited the fabulous Aztec temple Teotihuacan just outside the city (We are sitting at its steps in the photo below). The most exciting part of my stay was spotting Brigitte Bardot in the hotel lobby. And so began my love of traveling.
I revisited Teotihuacan more than 50 years later: here's what the crowds were like then.
Since my first visit in 1959, over the years I have visited Mexico many times. Caren and I even purchased a condo in Punta Mita, on the Pacific Coast north of Puerto Vallarta we liked it so much. We have since sold the condo, but I still hold Mexico and its people dear to my heart. We are so lucky to live so close to such a wonderful country.
These two photos are the only ones I have of this earliest visit.
