In !973 I quit my job at Hewlett Packard, bought a used Citroën van, and left Aubena with Nicole Cholby for a European tour that headed north through Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, the south through Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, and back to Aubenas. Norway was our favorite.
Aubenas. 2. Paris. 3. Belgium. 4. Luxembourg. 5. Netherlands. 6. Denmark. 7. Oslo 8. Kragerø 9. North Cape. 10. Poland. 11. East Germany. 12. Czechoslovakia. 13. Hungary. 14. Switzerland
Our trusty Citroën van. It broke down now and then, but fortunately only in Eastern Europe where it was cheap to get it repaired.
Our first stop in Norway was Kragerø, where we stayed with Inger and her family. We caught up with Len too:
Continuing north, we came across these local lovelies, impressing us with their all-weather outfits.
What would Norway be without waterfalls?
Lots of cool petroglyphs too, conveniently painted for our viewing pleasure.
Futher north, we let our van behind and traveled on foot, where we encountered Sami reindeer herders.
After about a week of hiking, we reached our destination: North Cape (Nordkapp), the northernmost point in Europe (Latitude N 71)
