After traveling from Aubenas north to Norway, and returning via Eastern Europe, Nicole and I decided to try something different, so we opted for a a visit to Tunisia by ferry. OMG, that was a decision to regret. It was a 20 hour rough crossing, with passengers restricted to below decks, and everybody got sick. Almost all the passengers were Tunisian workers returning from their jobs in France, and not only did they all get sick: they got dramatically sick, with moans, cries of anguish, prayers... it was quite a show. And to show our solidarity with our fellow passengers, we both joined in the sick-fest.
Once on solid ground, we improved rapidly, and life in Tunisia turned out to be very pleasant indeed. Good food, plenty of stuff to see and do, interesting architecture, desert oases, camels, even some troglodytes living in cave-like homes to avoid the summer heat:
