Turls and Caicos Islands. 2. Dominican Republic. 3. Puerto Rico. 4. U.S. Virgin Islands
In July of 1988 I was invited to crew on the delivery of a friend's sailboat from the Turks and Caicos Islands to the American Virgin Islands. There were five of us on board (all men). We motored the entire way, first along the northern coastline of the Dominican Republic, then the southern coast of Puerto Rico, and finally to an anchorage in the American Virgin Islands. We berthed each night at small docks, sometimes enlivened by shore parties fueled with local rum. A relaxed and trouble-free passage.
