1999-2004: The South Pacific
Dec 2001: South Korea
Dec 2001: South Korea
We flew from Australia to California for a home visit in December of 2001, stopping on the way for a short visit to South Korea.
The tour included a tour of an amethyst store. Look how excited Rachael is!
I liked the rubber band store best...
The tour included a meal with at least 25 dishes. I concentrated on the rice.
And a floor show with lovely outfits.
Shopping on the main streets was fun, but even better was an entire underground mall that went on forever.
The brush seller
But the best part of the tour by far was a trip to the border with North Vietnam.
These guys wanted a photo with Rachael (can you blame them?)
The "Bridge of No Return" connecting North and South Korea.
In 1974, four tunnels been found running under the DMZ, dug by the North Koreans so that their army could launch a surprise attack. We descended 73 meters to see them. The kids thought this was the best part of the tour. So did I.
