11 AM zip lining at 100% Aventura ($53). Pretty amazing. Longest zip line in Central America (1590m), plus “Superman” zip lines (stretch out and fly!), plus “Tarzan” scary drop-swing. Very well organized. Loved it.

To get to San Jose:
La Fortuna > Ciudad Quesada (47 min, 4x day, Transporte Pisa. Every hour on the half hour.
Transfer: Transporte San Carlos or Transporte Pisa to San Jose (every hour)
Or: bus direct, 4x daily, Transportes San Carlos, $5
Dollars and colones interchangeable in this country.
8 AM minibus right on time. Air conditioning, too. Terrible downhill road for about 1 1/2 hours to Laguna de Arenal - but a gorgeous view of Volcan Arenal (the driver even stopped for photos). At the lake, many people disembarked, but only about 30 of us embarked - so nice to be traveling in the off season, and on a Saturday. The weather is absolutely incredible - clear & warm. Best weather so far for me in Costa Rica. Here’s hoping it stays fine for the next few days. 30 minute boat ride, another 30 minutes by bus, and Voila! La Fortuna.
Isaiah: host. Room is smallest ever - just barely space for the bed. And can only lock door from outside! Booked next two nights in a tent at Arenal Backpackers Resort: swimming pool, nice grounds, common areas: $35.
Restaurante Viques: good local meal, passion fruit drink, $6.
Bus to San Jose: 2:45, 4 hours - too late!
Roger (Red Lava Tours): book volcano hike tomorrow, 9:30 - ? $45.
