I was popular, and it was fun. All of a sudden, I had a different date every night, all summer Long, I can remember that. I went to the University of Kentucky when I was 16.
I graduated from high school when I was 16 years old. I was supposed to go to Smith College, but that was the year of the great depression, my stepfather lost a lot of money. There wasn’t enough money to send me away to college, which had been planned. So I went to the university of Kentucky as a Day student. I was much too immature to have done such a thing, to be all of a sudden , put in classes with football players, and to be sought after. I mean, I knew how to handle myself, I wasn’t that way, but I was just absolutely and totally crazy. my parents bought me a car. I went to college, but I was not serious about it because there were too many distractions. However, I did learn a little. My mother and father had rules. I was not allowed to go out weeknights, but I went out every weekend. As soon as vacation came, this is hard to believe, but there was never a night that I was home. I went out every night with a different boy. There were one or two favorites. There were more boys than girls for one thing. Sometimes we went with another couple and played bridge, but otherwise we went to a dance, or to a movie.
