Oh yes, the office, some of the secretaries in the office came and saw me afterwards and said, “oh, if we’d only known. She used to come to work with… One time she had to be sent home to change her clothes because she used to come with everything hanging out, you know, and was really a sexy, babe, and everybody in the office hated her, that was one thing. “ And I said, “well, you should’ve said something. “They said, “well, we really didn’t know anything was going on, except that, they noticed that she would get up and go out and then he would get up and go out and they put it all together after it happened.

Wait, wait wait. When I was, when they were friends of Don, but they stayed friends with you. Did they stay friends with him?

No. I don’t think more than two people did stay friends. The Fowles have stayed friends of Dan, just because of politics, but they don’t see him. I mean, they don’t have dinner with him. You know, we share a dinner with maybe once a month, which is an awful lot. Often will go down to some restaurant and talk and have fun. They’re the ones that invited us to be part of a group, and are really kind of nice.

They are from the days with Don, too?

Yes, definitely. Politics and the world federalists in particular. The United federalists started here in Palo Alto with Allan right up after the war.  Cord Myer Jr, did you ever hear of him? He came back, and he went to the high school here and gave a talk, and we all went out. I don’t remember who really called us up to go but we were inspired with this guy. Everybody joined that night. We started a chapter chairman.
