All right, during that time, living in the apartment with Don overseas part of the time, a lot of my friends from Kentucky came through, almost everybody I knew. Including Nathan, who I really knew longer than I knew Don.
Nathan?
Nathan was in the same outfit that Byron Wizzerwite was in, it was a PT boat, and Nathan came through during the war. He called me up his first time back in two years from being overseas. I guess he saw a lot, Don was out, and Nathan was with several friends and Wizzerwite was one of them, and he came up to the apartment, and all they wanted was milk and salad. And here were these navy guys, the first night in two years. It was really quite an experience. Well, he was still in love with me, and this was a very traumatic experience. I mean, it was very tough, because I suddenly was terribly sexually attracted to him, and we saw each other the next night alone, I did not go to bed with him, but I’m sorry I didn’t (laughs). You know, with what our more are today, it was ridiculous, but I was so pure, and thinking it was so wrong to do that. It was the wrong thing to do with my husband overseas. Well, I’m sorry I didn’t, because it wouldn’t have mattered. Now that I see, it would’ve been a nice thing. But I was glad I hadn’t married him.
That’s interesting. Why do you think that?
Well, because, we drove around San Francisco, and he hadn’t seen it, and I took him up to Coit Tower, and parked up there, just like we were kids, we were necking, and I said, “don’t you think this is a beautiful city “he just looked around and said well, it’s OK, but I would rather have an acre of tobacco land “and I said “did you still like Kentucky and what you’re doing and everything?”
