I began my ascent of Pichincha the easy way: an eight minute ride from 10,226 ft to 12,943 ft, making it one of the highest aerial lifts in the world. That's Quito, Ecuador's capital, in the background.
The hike up Ruku Pichincha takes about 4 hours, with a gain of 2,400 feet in elevation.
