Lots of driving, lots of stuff to see:
Breenaun:
Derrycourane, County Galway:
AAsleagh Falls, on the River Erriff, on the border between County Galway and County Mayo:
Near Drumcliff:
Grave of W.B. Yeats. In the poem "Under Ben Bulben", written one year before he died, he gave instructions for where and how he wanted to be buried:
Across the road: The Round Tower (10th-11th century). Part of as early monastic settlement founded in AD 574. Round towers served as bell towers, lookouts, storehouses for sacred objects and manuscripts, and places of refuge during raids:
A walk along the Drumhill River:
The High Cross at Drumcliff (10th - 11th century). It is a ring-headed Celtic cross, known for its biblical scenes, including Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and Daniel in the lion's den:
Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery, the largest in Ireland, and among the most significant in Europe. The tombs were constructed in the Neolithic period, making Carromore more than 5,500 years old. Here is the central cairn, called Listogil.
The center of Listogil. Here and in the other tombs were found both cremated and unburnt human remains, antler-pins, bone and stone beads, flint arrowheads, and tools:
Benbulben, north of Sligo town, overlooking Drumcliffe. Where Yeats is buried, and which features heavily in his poetry (Under bare Ben Bulben's head in Drumcliff churchyard Yeats is laid. In this poem he was commanding how he wished to be buried, and even dictating the exact inscription for his gravestone.)

My Airbnb for the next 3 nights. When I arrived, the hostess had a fire ready for me in the fireplace, treats, homemade bread and jam, eggs, fruit, coffee and tea, and robes to wear after my shower. Also two very cute dogs:
