Tijuana to Punta Mita
Fell yesterday walking to El Faro. Really nailed myself: bruises on both knees, palms, eyebrow, & especially at base of fingers of right hand. Friendly guys got me to infirmary, where a lovely young nurse put 4 stitches in me & prescribed antibiotics and pain meds. Total cost: $8. Like who needs health insurance? Pain: Toloran Ketorolaco. 1 x 8 hours for 3 days. Antibiotic: Butimaxil. 1 x 6 hours for 6 days.
Nov 19. Festival all day yesterday. Music in square, then dancing in basketball court nearby. Where are the tourists? Slept well for first time in awhile. Sitting now on balcony of Los Equipales, overlooking old prison and some road that just had a religious group with Jesus on the cross leading the way. Nobody in the restaurant blinked an eye. Ordered guacamole, salsa, & chips. Best chips ever!
Took taxi to see some of Bay of Concepcion: ok, but messy. Lots of campers. Sand not that great. I’ll take Punta Mita any day. Sitting in Las Casitas hotel - nobody here. Definitely not the tourist season. Big fire going, but whom to cook for?
Hand still swollen from fall two days ago. Hope it clears up by itself.
Just northeast of Mulegé, tucked into the Sierra de Guadalupe mountains, are the oldest cave paintings in North America - San Borjitas. Carbon dated to be 7,500 years old, these are the oldest cave paintings on the continent.
Nov 21: Mulege to La Paz.
Nov 22: La Paz. I met up with Jeremy, stayed in the extremely funky Hotel Yeneka, and then grabbed the ferry to Mazatlan on the Mexican mainland. Next stop: our condo in Punta Mita!
Nov 26: Punta Mita.
End of trip: the view from our balcony in Punta Mita
