After completing the Pacific Crest Trail on October 10, 2014, I rested up a bit, and prepared for a trip to the Middle East: Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Egypt, and Israel, about 4 1/2 months.

Women changed to black chadors on plane
Except for the cutie in the video below, there was a strange atmosphere amongst the flight attendants: distant, no warmth, hard look in eyes. Tough ladies - but lovely.

While I was waiting in the economy class line at the San Francisco Airport to check in, an Air Emirates official told me my reservation had been upgraded to business class. What a nice surprise.
