Oct 5, 2016.  Pachamama Hostel, Cabanaconde, Peru.

• Bus was an hour late leaving, but that meant more sunlight as it arrived in Chivay; the next 2 1/2 hours along the southern rim of the Colca Canyon were magical.  I had a great window seat, and just clicked away.  

• Checked into the hostel at around 8, had a great breakfast of good coffee, potatoes, eggs, and crepes (!).  My room wouldn't be ready for awhile, so I left for a bunch of hiking along the rim (saw a condor float by - my first -but failed to take its picture), returning via the terraces - which turned out to be a dumb move, really hard going, no trail, lots of climbing over stone walls - anyway, back to a great room with plenty of hot water.  

• Dinner of fab pizza cooked in an authentic Peruvian oven, lots of tourists, mostly French, ate the dinner with a nice fellow from Belgium.  Now up to date on Argentina.  Bed by 8, still trying to figure out how to spend the rest of my time in Colca Canyon.
