Our guide to the Temple of the Murals.
"Bonampak" is the Mayan word for "painted walls". It is known for the murals located within the three roomed Structure 1 (The Temple of the Murals). The Bonampak murals are noteworthy for being among the best-preserved Maya murals. Above is our guide, a local Lacandón. The murals are in the structures at the top of the stairs.
