6. San Miguel de Allende. Nov 17, 2015. I left Guadalajara for San Miguel de Allende (SMdA), about 5 hours by bus, where I reconnected with Chipper, and met her husband Peter. Chipper is a friend from way back - did I first meet her in Katmandu? She and Pancho used to hang together. She lives in and owns a guest house in SMdA, which I stayed in for awhile.
Nov 18: Began 3 hour a day Spanish lessons at Academia Hispano Americana. 3 1/2 weeks, for $500 ($30/hour). First class (today) had four other students (two women in their twenties, and a couple in their seventies). It went very well.
I sked my teacher to find me a home with a Mexican family for my last three weeks of lessons. The center is about a 15 minute walk from Chipper’s house. I decided to stay with Señora Mary (familia Berra López), Privada Aurora #4, beginning this coming Sunday. Cost: US $33 / day, including 3 meals. Will pay for one week US ($231, or Pesos $3696, at 16 to the dollar), and if it goes well, will book another week.
My room was upstairs; meals were served downstairs. And they were delicious.
Nov 20: Revolution Day parade in SMdA. Big parade, big crowd.
