Nov 25, 2019: Arenal Backpacker’s Resort, La Fortuna (tent: $35)

Hung out all day in my tent, somewhat a little worse for wear. I had hurt my finger somehow the night before, so tried my first ever oxycodone - left me woozy and drowsy, but seemed to take my mind off the pain.
Lots of rain, sometimes pretty heavy. Went back to my favorite restaurant and ordered the same thing (rice, beans, salad, and pork; pineapple & coconut drink) for the third time. So good, so filling.
Learned from Andrea & Astrubal that the weekend is off - complications from her dental work. Not sure what I do next. If it’s nice tomorrow morning, I may taxi to Catarata Rio Fortuna (about 3 miles) and walk back. Still on the list: Parque Nacional Volcán Tenorio: Rio Celeste.

Nov 26, 2019: Arenal Backpacker’s Resort, La Fortuna (tent: $35)

Walked to the Cascada Rio Fortuna (7 m round trip). Lovely falls, but decided against joining the teeming masses swimming at its base. On the walk back, visited the orchid garden, and spotted only a few - clearly this is not orchid season.
Decided to rent a car, beginning tomorrow morning, for a few days. The stuff I want to see is not easily visitable by local transport. Still, $70 / day kinda hurts (that includes a mandatory $25 / day insurance policy).

Plan:

Bijagua > La Fortuna >
Rio Perdido (near Miravalles - $50) or
Las Hornillas (hot springs & slide - in La Fortuna)
Torno > Salitral > Bagaces > Catarata Llanos de Cortés (best waterfall - on the way to Liberia)
Parque Nacional Rincón de la Vieja (near Liberia)
