Myvatn Geothermal Area. The lake was created by a large basaltic lava eruption 2300 years ago, and the surrounding landscape is dominated by volcanic landforms, including lava pillars and rootless vents (pseudocraters).
Dettifoss: the second most powerful waterfall in Europe (after the Rhine Falls in Switzerland).
Leirhnjúkur is an active volcano. It sits on a volcanic fissure, part of the Krafla caldera. That's Yann, standing on a lava formation.
After a hard day of hiking, there's nothing like a nice plate of fish and chips.
