All day snow slog, with bad mosquitoes most of the day. Even took the wrong trail for about 1/2 mile, and found out only because met a couple who had taken the same wrong turn. Camping in small dry grove in middle of snow fields, with peaks looming around (The Sisters?) Beautiful red sunset. But biggest news: Hershey’s Instant Chocolate Pudding: Yum!
1976, 18 miles. Must do 13 tomorrow to reach McKenzie Pass.

Leaving Redding for Burney Falls on the “Burney Express” bus to Burney. Arrived Redding at 3 am by bus/train (Chemult) from Bend (3 nights at Mill B&B, 2 in basement at $30). Watched Brazil / Netherlands play on Sat., then Sunday final (Germany - Argentina) in Redding. Stayed at Thunderbird Lodge last night: good & cheap. Today will be 112 degrees at bus station. Sure hope it is cooler on trail. Next stop: Old Station (45 miles).
