Aug 27, 2016. Hostel Tiana, Latacunga, Ecuador.
Back "home", after four days on the hike. The last day's trail was shorter and easier than the other's, but still took about 5 hours, what with losing my way a few times. Again, terrific scenery, homes perched high up on the edges of precipices, steep river valleys, often with walls made bare by landslides, more cows, melon fields, lots more dogs - almost everybody seems to own a couple of dogs, and they seem to treat them well, more as pets than for any other purpose. Cute ones, too. Chickens, ducks, pigs. Mostly old people in the fields and at their homes, moving slowly, always smiling when greeted.
Ended my walk at Sigchos, just in time to catch a bus back to Latacunga. Now checked back into Hostel Tiana, with a hot shower and a pile of dirty clothes they will wash, dry, iron, and return in two hours for about a dollar. Not sure where I'm headed tomorrow. Time to try a Skype call to my sweetie.
