Back on the Ruta de las Flores, after a breakfast of another two pupusas and hot chocolate at one of the outdoor restaurants lining the Central Park. Feeling lazy and weak, so no hiking today.
Drove to and through Salcoatitán, Juayúa, and Apaneca, and stopped for lunch at Hotel y Restaurante el Jardin Celeste: very classy. This stretch of the Ruta is known for its good restaurants, and I picked the best. Sopa de Gallins, hot pineapple tea, mushroom croquettes, coconut flan, served next to a lovely garden. Best meal yet in this country. And staying tonight at the sister hotel, with a nice garden and hammocks ($30).
