I dropped off my laundry, then got lucky: I grabbed a lift aboard a Tuk-Tuk that happened to have a couple headed for the one tour that does the cave. The guide says not to miss this, so I joined the tour.
First, an hour’s Jeep ride...
Cueva del Esplendor, jeep ride.MOV...then a two hour hike past cultivated fields...
...Past a jungle stream...
...and down a steep path to the waterfall, which emerges from the roof into a cold pool at the bottom.
Some of the twenty or so tourists tried a dip, but few stayed more than a few seconds - it was really cold. I didn’t try.
